Second volunteering stint for Catherine Monday, 28th August 2006
Catherine Montgomery from Maguiresbridge, a language teacher at Thornhill College in Derry, has already spent five weeks teaching at a school in the Eastern Cape in South Africa, and now she is to set off again to use her teaching skills to help students overseas. The daughter of Alfie and Betty Montgomery, Catherine has been granted a year's leave of absence from Thornhill by the principal, Sarah Kelly, and she will spend it on the island of St Vincent in the West Indies, teaching at St Martin's missionary school. In addition to teaching her own specialist subjects, she will also be guiding the teaching staff in classroom management.
