Due to the incredible success of Music Month 04, Oxfam Ireland is making this musical treasure trove an annual event. Last year we raised almost €100,000, largely thanks to a generous donation of 25,000 vinyl records from Downtown Radio in Belfast.

This year the event will be held during the month of April.

Oxfam Ireland is running its spectacular music promotion in all of its 43 shops around the country and our aim is to raise at least €50,000 for our work overseas. To achieve this goal we are asking for donations of VINYL RECORDS, CDs and TAPES during the month of March and will then run special musical promotions and events in our shops throughout April.

We are also holding an auction of music memorabilia, including framed and signed photos, CD’s and t-shirts of top artists including REM, The Frames, Damien Rice, Paddy Casey and Rodrigo y Gabriela. The exhibition can be seen at the Front Lounge in Dublin during the first week in April and will then be auctioned on E-Bay. More details can be found on our website

The main purpose of Oxfam Music Month is, of course, to raise more money to overcome poverty and suffering throughout Africa. But we also want to raise the profile of music in Oxfam shops, and let people know they can come to Oxfam not just for CDs and videos at bargain prices, but for rare and collectible records too. Donated records and CDs are becoming a hugely important source of income for many of our shops and during 2005 we intend to increase dedicated music sections in many of our outlets.

As well as CDs, tapes and videos, Oxfam also stock collectible vinyls, sheet music, instruments and music books.

We are appealing to the public to donate any old records, CD's and tapes to any Oxfam shops to make this music month an even bigger success than last year.

Please contact me if you would like further information or details of participating Oxfam shops.

Many thanks for your consideration
